Avoid Peak Times
Avoid peak busy times at the Driver Licensing offices: 1) after 3:00 p.m. each work day, 2) when schools are not in session, and 3) the day before and after a holiday.
Take advantage of your driver's license renewal period.
Renewal Notice Card
If you received a Renewal Notice from the DMV, please update it and present it to Driver Licensing Staff when renewing. It will save you time!
TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
Prior to the issuance of a Nebraska Commercial Driver’s License with the hazardous materials endorsement, you will be required as per the U.S. PATRIOT ACT to have a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security threat assessment completed.
The security threat assessment procedures require you to pre-enroll and be fingerprinted – a fee will be charged. This process will be handled by a TSA third party agent – NOT THE DMV.
Please follow the procedures outlined below to have a security threat assessment completed
Contact the TSA by phone to pre-enroll at 1-855-347-8371. Their hours are
8 a.m. - 10 p.m. EST, Monday - Friday.
After completing pre-enrollment, access the following website to find a fingerprint collection location nearest you: https://universalenroll.dhs.gov/locator. This website will provide you fingerprint collection locations in Nebraska as well as other States.
The DMV will be notified by TSA when a “Determination of No Security Threat” is received. Upon receipt of that notification, individuals will be sent a letter informing them of such by the DMV. You may then proceed to any DMV exam office and after meeting all DMV requirements, a CDL with the hazardous materials endorsement will be issued.
Please remember that all questions related specifically to the security threat assessment should be directed to the TSA toll free number or the TSA website.
If you have driver licensing questions, please contact the Driver License Services at 402/471-3861.
